Mr. Joe A. Brister, 79, a resident of Summit, passed away at the McComb Nursing and Rehab on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.  A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 1 PM until services at 3 PM.

He was born February 9, 1944 in Mobile, Alabama the son of the late John and Fleeda Moody Brister.  He was a retired chemist and had served in the United States Coast Guard.  Joe enjoyed playing golf at Pine Hills, Percy Quin and the Brookhaven Golf Courses and especially  enjoyed attending auctions --buying and selling. He was fond of drag racing and went to many car shows.  Joe also enjoyed all types of sports.

Mr. Brister is survived by his wife, Rose Moore Brister of Summit.  Two sons:  Jay Bradley Brister of Liberty, Mississippi and Jacob Brandon and wife, Amanda Brister of Gonzales, Louisiana.  Two step-sons:  Kenneth and wife, Susan Call of Liberty and Gary and wife, Rebekah Call of Jayess, Mississippi.  One brother, Van "Butch" and wife, Charline Brister of Avon, Indiana.  9 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
