Rev. Joe Girling Felder, 78, of McComb, MS, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2024, at PAM Health Specialty Hospital in Hammond, LA.
Born March 14, 1946, in McComb, MS, he was the son of John Clifton "P Joe" Felder and Louise Girling Felder.
In 1963, he married Carolyn Ann Pine of McComb, MS. Joe graduated from North Pike High School in 1964. During his time there, he excelled in athletics and earned MVP awards in football. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt and used those hobbies to create a career in the sporting goods business in Meridian, MS.
Later in life, he surrendered to the ministry and spent many years alongside his loving wife Carolyn serving within the United Methodist Church, including stints at Ebenezer UMC, Liberty UMC, Taylorsville UMC, and Magnolia UMC. Their most treasured times were spent with family and friends at the annual Felder's United Methodist Campmeeting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Pine Felder, a brother, John C. "Clippy" Felder, and a sister, Jacqueline Felder Butler.
He is survived by two sons Joey Felder and John Felder (Gretchen) of Summit, MS; former daughter in law Susan Felder of Hammond, LA; five grandchildren, Jordan Field (Beau) of Hammond, LA, Ashleigh Holmes (Cody) of Ethel, LA, Ross Felder (Cassie) of Madison, MS, Tate Felder and Emily Claire Felder of Summit, MS; four great grandchildren, Josephine "Joey" Field, Neely Field, Emma Holmes, and Cam Holmes; three brothers, Alfred Lee Felder (Cherrie), Teddy Moore Felder (Sheila), and Robert Girling Felder and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Felder United Methodist Church, Monday, April 15, 2024, with visitation starting at 10 AM with service to follow at 12 Noon. Rev. James Twiner will officiate and burial will take place at Felder UMC Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Ross Felder, Tate Felder, Beau Field, Cody Holmes, Ryan Plotner, Reed Plotner, and Al Felder.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Felder's United Methodist Church Campground Association, 116 Price Street, McComb, MS 39648.
