At 5:32 PM on Saturday June 14, 2025, Joe Patrick McKenzie, 68, of Nashville, TN exhaled for the last time on earth and immediately inhaled the fresh air of his heavenly reward surrounded by his three children, big brother, and dearest friend.

Born May 25, 1957, in McComb, MS, Joe Pat was the son of Garland and Dera McKenzie. Though he skipped nearly as much school as he attended, he graduated from South Pike High School. He worked as a meat cutter for Kroger for over 40 years until he retired.

Joe was preceded in death by his loving parents.

He is survived by his children Tommy, David, and Kristy McKenzie, all of Nashville, the mother of his children and dear friend Linda McKenzie, his brothers Gerald (Kris) and Steve, his step-dad Jack, and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is also dearly missed by a grumpy bulldog named Stormy.

Joe was many things: a Mama's boy, Gospel music fan, Blue Bell connoisseur, grill master, YouTube addict, and maker of all manner of mischief. Most importantly, he was a father. He loved his children with everything he had, and the feeling was entirely mutual. The huge emotional hole that he has left will and can never be filled, and he will never be forgotten. His legend will continue in the McKenzie family for generations to come.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb from 5 PM to 8 PM and Friday, June 20, 2025, from 9 AM until services at 11 AM. Bro. Ed Meadows will officiate, and burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Felder Dunn, Ricky Givens, Hershel Jones Jr, Larry McKenzie, Mike McKenzie, Rob McKenzie, Roger McKenzie, and David Roberts.
