John Edward DeCanter, 78,  of McComb, MS, passed away on December 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at McComb Nursing and Rehab.

A visitation will be held Thursday December 26, 2024, at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb from 10 AM until 11:15 AM with graveside services to follow at 11:30 AM in Magnolia Cemetery with Dr. David Millican officiating.

John was born in Magnolia, MS., on February 13, 1946 to the late, William F. and Mary Nell Dear DeCanter.

John was disabled and stayed at McComb Nursing and Rehab for over fifteen years and was of the Baptist faith. He was a wonderful brother and friend. He enjoyed therapy, bingo and mostly loved the residence and staff at McComb Nursing and Rehab. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jimmy DeCanter and one sister, Winnie Palmer.

He will be greatly missed by his brother, Emmett Eugene DeCanter and his sister, Shelia Louise Anderson, one cousin, Nancy Biggart with numerous other cousins and friends.
