Obituary

Jonathan "Duke" Carraway, 53, of Smithdale, MS., passed away at his residence on September 12, 2026.

Visitation is Monday September 14, 2026 at New Salem Baptist Church in Liberty, MS., from 5 PM until 8 PM with visitation again on Tuesday from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Rev. Larry Wicker will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Duke was born in McComb, MS., on August 7, 1973. He is the son of Judy Thornton Bond (Bobby), and the late, Jackie Carraway (Regina).

Duke was a long time carpenter, specializing in remodeling, but loved building custom cabinets the best. His uncle Burnette Carraway and dad, Jackie taught him everything they new. Duke was also a member of New Salem Baptist church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, digging for crystals in AR., building and remodeling houses, spending time with his wife and boys. He also enjoyed being a Franklin County 4H Rifle instructor and teaching youth safety. He enjoyed working with the youth. Duke was a wonderful loving, husband and father who spoiled his Yorkiepoo Max. He will be sadly missed by all those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jackie Carraway.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Thorton Bond (Bobby), and step-mother, Regina Carraway, his loving wife of thirty years, Traci Reynolds Carraway, two very special sons who meant the world to him, Christopher Carraway (Alana Case "bride to be") and Jamie Carraway, three brothers, Jeremy Carraway (Jerri), Will Reedy and Donald Bond (Michelle), and one sister, Bekki Bond.

Pallbearers will be Blake Carraway, Brian Carraway, Jason Edwards, Demond Franklin, Chris Taylor, Steve Weber and Maxie Vines.
