JoNell Myers-McKenzie, 85, of McComb, MS passed away peacefully at her residence on February 20, 2024.
A visitation will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 9:00 AM until services at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. David Millican and Rev. Rick Kennedy will officiate. Burial will follow in Reeves Cemetery. Hartman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
JoNell was born in McComb, MS on November 16, 1938 to Flora Smith Lang and William Felton Lang. She was an active member of New Heights Baptist Church formerly East McComb Baptist Church, where she served as a mission friends leader, along with vacation bible school and the WMU. She was a contributing member of the SonLife Broadcasting Network. She was a graduate of the Fernwood School in 1956 where she played basketball. She enjoyed time playing tennis, and traveling with her family throughout her husband's career. In 1976 she was named Enterprise Journal's Mother of the Year. In later years she enjoyed music and playing Canasta with her friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years Francis H. Myers, Jr., four sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her loving husband, Willie Earl McKenzie of McComb, her five children Carolyn Krouse (Glynn) of Spring, TX, Susan Duncan (Mike) of McComb, MS, Marilyn Parnell of Centreville, MS, Rosalyn Adams (Steve) of McComb, MS and Francis H. "Skeet" Myers, III (Erin) of Cullowhee, NC, two step children Clarissa Mclendon (Greg) of Daphne, AL and Chip McKenzie (Monica) of Daphne, AL, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren, her closest childhood friend Dorris Rushing Hutson, along with other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Glynn Krouse, Mike Duncan, Steve Adams, Wes Adams, Shane Adams, Marvin Parnell, Parker Erwin, and Wesley "Munch" Sterling.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Parnell, Dickie Bennett and Glen Kemp.
The family wishes to thank St. Luke Hospice for all of the care given to Mrs. JoNell.
