Joseph C. Black, Sr., 66, a resident of McComb, MS; passed away February 25, 2024 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 2:00PM in Pike Memorial Gardens. Dr. David Millican will officiate.  Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Joe was born on June 2, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Billy Joe Black and Claudia Louise Garner Black.  He worked for many years in Vicksburg at Anderson Tully as a saw filer. Joe was an avid fisherman.  He enjoyed the time spent outdoors.  He also enjoyed time with his family and watching TV.  He was an excellent cook and would cook for family and friends, taking potato salad to many functions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bobby Joe Black.

He is survived by his wife Julie Black of Ocean Springs, MS, three sons  Lieutenant Colonel Joseph C. Black, Jr. (Casey) of Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Tim Black (Betsy) of Monticello, MS and Philip Black (Lacey) of Ocean Springs, MS, two sisters Billie Jean George (Gary) of Baton Rouge, LA and Belinda Black Moore (Charlie) of Summit, MS, grandchildren Lucy, Brooks, Cody, Harper, Kinsley, and Jett, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Moore, Cody Black, Chase Stogner and Daniel Copeland.
