Kathryn Boggs-Gray, 63, passed away peacefully Monday, July 15th at her home in Summit, MS.
Kathy was born November 2nd, 1960 at Fort Campbell KY. She was a 1978 graduate of Enterprise High School in Enterprise, AL. and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Troy State University, AL.
After graduation, she worked for the Army/Air Force Exchange Services at Eglin AFB, FL as their security manager. After moving to Alaska in 1984, Kathy ran an adoption agency for unwed teenage mothers for four years. She then moved in to private corrections and was the Vice President of Operations for Allvest Inc. and Cornell Corrections.
She supervised the operations of several half-way houses in Alaska, Washington State, and Las Vegas, NV. Kathy was known and respected for her professionalism, uncanny insight, and ability to achieve goals despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles. She finished her career in Alaska when she moved to Summit in 2005 and worked with her husband at Southern Fire until her disability from a motor vehicle accident in 2015.
Kathy was a member of First Baptist Church Summit and was deeply rooted in her faith. She loved to camp and swim, and cook for her family, especially with her grandsons. Kathy was always happiest when surrounded by her family and friends, especially while watching an Alabama football game! Kathy's favorite place was the beach, and she often talked about buying a summer home in Florida and spending her days watching the ocean.
Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Capt. Gary L. Boggs (US Army Ret.), her mother, Edna Juanita McCaskell Boggs, and her brother, James Mikell Boggs.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 42 years, SMSgt Cammie Gray, Jr. (US Air Force Ret.), her daughter's Rebekah Boggs-Gray of Lafayette, LA, McCaskell Boggs-Gray of Hattiesburg, MS, Nikki Jordan Hay of Anchorage, AK, her grandsons Bear Watkin, Danny Ray Watkin, and Gray Watkin, her sister Garilyn Boggs Lunsford, as well as a whole host of cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19th 2024 from 10:00 AM until services at 12:00 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. Dr. Larry LeBlanc will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bear, Danny, and Gray Watkin.
