Obituary

Lana Lee, 78, of McComb, MS passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, Oct 7, 2026.

Lana lived a life centered around family, faith, friendships, painting, cooking and her love for gardening.

Lana grew up in Pinola, MS and attended Pinola High School, where she met her husband Carey. They married at 18 years of age and eventually moved to Starkville, MS. There she worked in the purchasing department at MS State University.

Lana was active in ESA for many years and served as President. Through ESA many life long friendships were formed. Often found working in her yard, Lana enjoyed learning the art of different plants and flowers and how to nurture them. She eventually obtained her Master Gardner certification. When not planting flowers, you could find her in the kitchen or in a nook painting another canvas. Combined with her love for gardening and art she has many canvases painted of her beautiful flowers.

She was the beloved wife of Carey Lee and a devoted mother to her daughters, Gayla Elliott (Mark) of Brandon, MS and Cristil Baldwin of Gulf Breeze, FL. Her greatest joy was being “Lee Lee” to her two grandchildren, Kylie Elliott and Ben Baldwin.

Lana was a devoted member of First Baptist Summit where she loved attending her Sunday school class.

Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Burnice and Willie Mae Taylor, her sister and brother in law, Peggy and Ben Riley and her brother Rodney Taylor.

Services will be provided at Hartman Jones Funeral Home, McComb, MS on Monday, October 12, 2026. There will be a visitation from 9 AM to 11 AM with service to follow. Burial will follow service in Shivers, MS.
