Laron Lee “Ronnie” Freeman, 68, ran to his Savior when he passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Ronnie was born on October 23, 1957, to the late Laness Freeman and Katie Wallace Freeman. He was raised in Summit, Mississippi, where he enjoyed playing Little League baseball. He graduated from North Pike High School, Class of 1976.
On June 30, 1979, Ronnie married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Brown. This year they would have celebrated 47 years together. They built a life centered on faith, family, and cherished memories. Ronnie was a member of First Baptist Church of Summit. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, aka Poppy. Ronnie had a love for music- Christian, country and classic rock, most notably, Lynyrd Skynyrd. He loved old westerns like Lonesome Dove and also Smokey and the Bandit. He loved life, family, and God. He always made sure everyone in his life knew how much he loved them and went above and beyond to make each one feel special.
For over 33 years, Ronnie lived as a quadriplegic, facing his disability with remarkable strength and determination. Despite the challenges, he continued to enjoy the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, passions he loved dearly and pursued throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by several beloved family members, including a special uncle Paul Wallace and lifelong friend David Jackson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Brown Freeman of Summit; his children, Amy Gaskin (Wes) of Summit, Blake Freeman (Rachael) of Summit, and Brent Freeman (Holly) of Brookhaven; and his treasured grandchildren, Bella, Lily, Katie, Lex, Sera, Connar, Callen, Haze, Paisley, Kamp, Knox, Barrett, and Bodi; his brothers, Buster Freeman and Bubba Freeman (Tracey); his in- laws, Donald Lee and Jackie Brown. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
