Lavonne Wallace, of Jayess, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 82, surrounded by her loving children. Born on March 3, 1942, to Dewey and Evelyn Heen Reid, Lavonne lived a life of compassion, dedication, and commitment to her family and faith.

A visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 at New Bethel Jesus Name Church from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hartman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Jerry Wallace, and her precious great-granddaughter, Audrey Hope Sparks. Lavonne now rests with them, reunited in peace.

Lavonne is survived by her children: sons Robert Wallace and his wife Karen, Damon Wallace and his wife Rita, and daughter Marjorie Dewitt and her husband Mike. Her grandchildren—Krista Wallace, Brittany Wallace Sparks and her husband Sawyer, Trey Dewitt, and Bella Dewitt— and one great-granddaughter, Avalyn Grace Sparks.

She also leaves her siblings: sister Evangeline Catoire and her husband Walter, and brothers Kenneth Reid, Bobbie Reid and his wife Kathy, Donald Reid and his wife Wanda, and Gene Reid, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom shared in her deep family ties.

For many years, Lavonne served as a school teacher, a role she held until retirement. Her classroom was a place of inspiration, leaving a legacy of learning that spanned generations. A lifelong member of New Bethel Church of Jayess, MS, Lavonne's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found solace and strength in her church community, offering her quiet devotion in return. Her home in Jayess was a gathering place, her presence a comfort to all who knew her.

She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and resilience, her spirit forever woven into the lives of her family and community. She will be remembered as a teacher, a faithful servant, and a loving mother, grandmother, and sister—her memory a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her.
