Linda was born on August 7, 1948 in McComb, MS. She was the daughter of James Lee Van Norman and Cornelia Davis Van Norman.
Linda was a true southern lady, wholly devoted to her family as a beloved and adored wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She and husband of nearly 55 years, Donald Edward Welch, began their marriage and raised their three daughters in McComb, MS. There were many adventures along the way as a military officer's wife, always carrying out her role as the Class Leader's wife with elegance and grace while at Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Rucker, Alabama, and Fort Eustis, Virginia. Wherever their residence, family and friends alike were drawn to the warmth and love that Linda cultivated in her home which was always flowing with music and laughter.
Linda loved her family intentionally and held treasured traditions dear - particularly Christmas, Easter, birthdays, Halloween, and Sunday dinners, where her ever-growing dinner table was always full. Linda's tender, caring heart made everything she touched flourish. From her beloved pets to her beautiful flowers, Linda's loving nature shined through.
Travel memories were also made and treasured as a whole family - camping, Disney World, and Gulf Shores being at the top of the list. Linda was the ever constant, encouraging matriarch that created an undeniably close-knit family who will miss her so dearly.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Donna Sue Van Norman Byrd and Jane Van Norman.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Donald E. Welch of McComb; three daughters, Kimberly Carol Welch-Dick and husband, Kendall of Summit, MS, Jennifer Joy Welch of Summit, MS, and Veronica Dionne Welch Wilson, and husband, Matthew of Birmingham, AL; one brother, Thomas Van Norman and wife, Sue of Magnolia, MS; one brother-in-law, James Byrd, of Summit, MS; eight grandchildren, Cornelia Carol "Carlee" Welch-Dick Causey and husband, Andy of Hattiesburg, MS; Rebecca Raine Richmond Wells and husband, Bobby of Petal, MS; Regan Rose Richmond Hillyard, and husband, Nicholas of Summit, MS, and their father Allen Richmond; Donald Christian Welch-Dick, Maximillian Bond Welch-Dick, and Jack Wyatt Kendall Welch-Dick, all of Summit, MS; Shepard Stephan Scott Wilson and Remington James Reid Wilson, of Birmingham, AL; two great-grandchildren, Judah Lee Ransom Causey of Hattiesburg, MS and Baby Girl Wells of Petal, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
