Linton Duel Corkern, 87, a resident of McComb, MS; passed away April 16, 2022 at The Claiborne.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM at Mars Hill Baptist Church.  Burial will be in the Mars Hill Cemetery. Rev. Jared Leonard and Dr. David Millican will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Duel was born on February 18, 1935 in Amite, LA to Herman Corkern and LouElla Stevens Corkern.

Mr. Corkern was a United States Army veteran. He owned and operated Corkern Plumbing Company in Baton Rouge, LA from 1969 until he retired in 2013. He enjoyed golf and farming on the "Corkwell Plantation". He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Shirley Courtney Corkern; a son Scott Edward Corkern; a brother Purvis Corkern and two sisters Mildred Rayburn and Doris LaBauve.

He is survived by his wife Elaine Wells Corkern of McComb; sons Keith Wells and Terri of Farmersville, TX and Kevin B. Wells of Summit, MS, along with two brothers Douglas Corkern and Deloris of Denham Springs, LA and Donnie Corkern and Pamela of Amite, LA; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be James Corkern, Stevie Corkern, Gregory Corkern, Ryan Wells, Herman (Cooter) Walker, and Tim Wells.

The family wishes to thank Hospice Compassus and the entire staff of The Claiborne for the care and compassion shown to Mr. Duel and to them.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mars Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
