Loretta Ann Burnette, 85, a resident of Jayess, MS passed away on June 26, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM until services at 1:00 PM at New Bethel Jesus Name Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Bro. Gary Robinson will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Loretta was born on September 4, 1938 in Faulkner County, Arkansas to Roland Wallace Harrell and Beulah Cordell Stocks Harrell. She was a member of New Bethel Jesus Name Church. She worked for several years as a telephone operator before she met and married, after marriage she worked as a midwife delivering 137 babies. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for family and neighbors. She was a caretaker and taking meals to the sick brought her joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robie Joe Burnette, a daughter Kristie Dycus, a son-in-law Randy Dycus and a grandson Waylon Dycus, a son-in-law Larry Reid, a brother Terry Harrell, and a sister Magdalene Burnette.
She is survived by her three sons Robie Joe Burnette, Jr. (Sherlyn) of Jayess, Jeffrey Burnette (Teresa) of Jayess, Jerod Burnette of Jayess, a daughter Kaye Miletello (Frank) of Jayess, ten grandchildren Alana Anderson (William), Nila Jernigan, Joe Kent Burnette (Darlyn), Roderick Reid, LaSha Gatlin (Robert), Chelsia Odom (Camron), Jeffrey Coy Burnette, Courtney Burnette, Kevin Hudson (Chastin), eighteen great grandchildren, a brother Wayne Harrell (Ann), two sister Jean Wilkins and Dean Williamson, along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hudson, Kent Burnette, Roderick Reid, William Anderson, Camron Odom, Robert Gatlin and Ricky Brister.
Honorary pallbearer will be Coy Burnette.
