Lorraine Bass Steele, 88, of Smithdale, MS, passed peacefully from this life to eternal life on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Aston Court in McComb.  Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Elder Tom Griffin and Bro. Marvin Howard will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will handle the arrangements.

Lorraine was born on April 18, 1935 to the late Hilton Bass and Myrtis Laird Bass.  She was a member of Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church.  Lorraine was a faithful, devoted and loving wife and mother; she enjoyed reading, gardening her flowers and sewing almost all of her wardrobe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Clem Steele, grandchildren Nathan Steele, Monica and Nicole Hart, and great grandchildren Ava and Claire Steele.

She is survived by her children Dennis Steele (Stephanie) of Sumrall, MS, David Steele (Dianne) of Smithdale, Wanda Hart (Daniel) of Summit,  grandchildren Anthony Steele (Carman), Lori McMullen (Scott), Valerie Freeman, Michael Hart (Kristin), great grandchildren Ally Jordan (Jacob), Kenadi Conerly, Carson McMullen, Sera Freeman, Carleigh McMullen, Paisley Freeman, Andrew Hart, Savage Broussard, a brother Aubrey Bass, a sister Joyce Johnston, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be:  Joseph Cothern, Michael Hart, Raymond Smith, Anthony Steele, David Steele and Preston Walters.

The family would like to give special thanks to Aston Court and Compassus Hospice for their care to Mrs. Lorraine.
