Obituary

Louise Johnston Hodges, 96, of Summit, MS passed away August 13, 2024 at her residence.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 10:00AM until services at 12:00PM at Moak's Creek Baptist Church.  Rev. Mike Alexander and Rev. Jess Greer will officiate.  Burial will follow in Moak's Creek cemetery.  Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Louise was born in Summit, MS on July 23, 1928 to Hughie T Johnston and Nina McDaniel Johnston. She was a lifetime member of Moak's Creek Baptist Church.  Louise was an active member of Moak's Creek, teaching Sunday school, as a choir member, a VBS volunteer and served beside her husband while he was a Deacon in the church for 55 years.  She enjoyed reading and keeping a journal, which will be treasured reminders and read throughout the years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William "Willie" Allen Hodges, three sons Bruce Allen Hodges, Robbie Leroy Hodges and Rodney Ray Hodges, three brothers Marion Johnston, George Johnston and Curtis Johnston.

She is survived by a daughter Linda Hodges Branch (Sam) of Madison, MS, two sons Kevin Hodges (Penny) of Brookhaven, MS, and Clayton Hodges (Connie) of Brookhaven, MS, five grandchildren Jeremy Boyd (Amber) of Brandon, MS, Summer Williams of Panama City Beach, FL, Autumn Gatlin of Brookhaven, MS, Cal Hodges (Cortney) of Brookhaven, MS, and Cole Hodges (Jessica) of Madison, MS, nine great grandchildren, a sister Loretta Hall of Bogue Chitto, MS, and a sister-in-law Mignonne Johnston of Summit, MS, along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Boyd, Cal Hodges, Cole Hodges, Keith Johnston, Braden Gatlin and Marlin Bass.

The family of Mrs. Louise Johnston Hodges wishes to extend sincere thanks to the entire staff of St. Luke's Hospice for their loving care for Mrs. Louise during her time with them.

In lieu of flowers donations in her honor may be made to the Baptist Children's Village.
