Lynn H. Gaskin, 75, a resident of McComb, MS; passed away March 6, 2024 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until services at1:00 PM. Graveside services will follow in Hollywood cemetery. Rev. Demond Kennedy will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Lynn was born on November 7, 1948 in Brookhaven, MS to Lynwood Gaskin and Elsie Smith Gaskin Crockett. He was a member of North McComb Baptist Church. He moved to McComb in 1957 where he attended Hughes Elementary School. He later attended Jefferson Military Academy where he won many awards for Academics and Marksmanship. Lynn eventually returned to McComb where he graduated from McComb High School in 1968. During his high school years he enjoyed playing full back for the MHS Tigers as well as restoring his 1930 Model A Ford car that he would race at Hub City Dragway in Hattiesburg for many years. After graduation, he attended Co-Lin Community College where he received an associate and applied sciences degree in Respiratory Care Technology. Lynn eventually joined Exxon in 1972 where he worked until semi-retirement in 2005. He continued on as a consultant until fully retiring in 2010. Lynn was a man of many talents. He loved woodworking, drawing and collecting Civil War memorabilia and being a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He and his wife enjoyed vacationing in their mountain home in the Tennessee Smokies, where they always had a project going on. Lynn enjoyed time with his family and loved ones and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather JJ Monfourt, and a stepsister Annelle Monfourt Williams.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years Sheila Willoughby Gaskin of McComb, his children Tony Gaskin (Sheila) of Brandon, MS, Angela Keen (Chris) of Brandon, MS, John Gaskin (Samantha) of Florence, MS, step children Heather Gardner of McComb, MS, Will Smith of McComb, MS, grandchildren Kaitlin Cauthen (Sims), Jack Gaskin, Ross Gaskin, Lilly Ross, Mason Ross, Brianna Shivers, Brody Keen, Kylie Keen, Peyton Bradley, Ainsley Statham, Raeleigh Statham, Chase Weekley, Amber Gosain, Colton Hodges, Xavier Gusman, Reggie Gardner, Tyler Smith, Cameron Wicker (Josh), Ian Smith, Foster Smith, Jade Smith, great grandchildren Tyler Purvis, Amanii Hayes, Paisley Wicker, and Rosie Wicker, sisters Tricia Ray (Larry), half brother Keith Gaskin (Sherry) of Summit, sister-in-law Vickie Mullins (Terry) of McComb and a brother-in-law Jimmie Willoughby (Debbie) of Jayess, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be John Gaskin, Tony Gaskin, Jack Gaskin, Ross Gaskin, Chris Keen, and Dwayne Polk.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Turney, Don Geddie, Dale Hughes, Ricky Lee, and Curtis Bedwell.
