Mrs. Mable Barbara Pouns, 98, a resident of the Liberty Community Living Center passed away there on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM at East Fork Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The Reverend Larry Cockerham will officiate. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born June 20, 1923 in Amite County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Benjamin and Thelma Inez Causey Newman.

She was a life time member of East Fork Baptist Church, a member of the Miss-Lou Day Lillies Society and loved traveling having made many bus tours with the Globetrotters who were based in McComb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James William Pouns; one brother, Thomas Benjamin Newman, Jr. and one sister, Ina Marie Prestridge.

Mrs. Pouns is survived by one daughter, Kay and husband, Darrell Berry of Slidell, Louisiana and one son, William Kenneth and wife, Sue, Pouns of Smithdale, MS; 7 Grandchildren; 13 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chad Berry, Shannon Berry, Rees Risley, John Newman, Brent Simpson, and Damon Wallace.
