Marjorie Ellis passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Claiborne Assisted Living Facility in McComb, Mississippi. She was 85 years old.

Marjorie Darling Dunaway was born in McComb, Mississippi on February 1, 1940 to the late, Will S. Dunaway and Marjorie Beam Dunaway.
Upon seeing his daughter, Will called her his little darling and that became her given name. For most of her life her family and friends knew her as Darling. Her first marriage was to Lloyd Dunaway resulting in her two children, Malcolm and Glenn.

Lloyd and Darling were married for 22 years. Her second marriage was to retired Navy NCO Jim Allen in 1982. She and Jim lived in several locations throughout the US but many years were spent in McComb, Mississippi. They were active in the First Baptist Church of McComb where they taught Sunday school.

She and Jim worked at the Dinner Bell Restaurant with their friends and restaurant owners, John and Carolyn Lopinto. They later relocated to Frederick, Maryland were she remained until Jim's death in 2013. At that time she moved to Jackson, Mississippi to live with her brother John and his wife Charlene. While there she met and married their neighbor Charles Ellis in 2015. Upon his death in 2021, she moved back in with John and Charlene.

Due to declining health issues Marjorie moved to the Claiborne in McComb in 2022. Marjorie always had a loving and tender nature, a sweet smile, and a gentle voice which she never lost.

She is survived by her son Malcolm Dunaway, his wife Janice and their children Emily and Erin, her son Glenn Dunaway, his children Alex, Will and Samantha, five great grandchildren, her brother John Dunaway and his wife Charlene, and her sister Judy Dunaway.

Her immediate family will gather for a private service at Hollywood cemetery.
