Maxwell Curtis
Pennebaker
September 8, 2003 – August 26, 2023
Maxwell Curtis Pennebaker, 19, of Madison, Mississippi passed away on August 26, 2023. It is with the deepest of sorrow and so much sadness that we announce the death of our sweet, precious Max.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Parish Hall, Chapel of the Cross, Madison, MS., located at 674 Mannsdale Rd., Madison, MS 39110. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in the Chapel of the Resurrection, Chapel of the Cross, Madison, MS. A Private Burial to follow for family.
Maxwell Curtis Pennebaker was born on September 8, 2003, at 5:01 p.m., one minute after his twin brother.
Max grew up in Madison, Mississippi, where he was a member of Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church. He served as an Acolyte, volunteered at A Day In The Country, and helped with the Grave Digger's Guild. At the age of 13, Max joined Boy Scout Troop 164. From the second he started, he was hooked and learned so much during his active membership time.
Max worked hard and was very proud when he made the rank of Eagle Scout, but not as proud as his family was of him. We will be forever grateful for the Scout leaders of Troop 164.
Max graduated from Madison Central High School in 2022. He cultivated lasting friendships at MC. He loved his time there, so much, that he didn't want to leave. He continued his education at Mississippi State University where he was majoring in Building Construction Science.
He found a home at Phi Kappa Tau. He spoke highly of his Phi Tau brothers and loved them.
To know Max was to love him. His sweet nature, kind spirit and incredible sense of humor brightened the lives of everyone that was lucky enough to know him. He was the most loving son, brother, and friend to so many people. His life was a testament to God's love and he will be forever missed by those he left behind.
He is survived by his parents, Carey and Jill Pennebaker, Starkville, MS; his siblings Annah of Birmingham, AL, Casey of Gulf Shores, AL, and Sam Pennebaker of Starkville, MS; his grandparents Lee and Barbara Pennebaker and Sandra Odom of Bolton, MS; numerous aunts and uncles including Kelley (Dave) Hickey, Amanda (Bruce) Kirkland, Terri (Ron) Powell, Pam Jones, Lee Pennebaker and Greg Guillory; as well as numerous loving cousins and other family members.
Max loved animals and spent many hours volunteering at Webster Animal Shelter. This is also where he chose to complete his Eagle Scout project.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Webster Animal Shelter in Max's honor, a place he so dearly loved. Checks may be mailed to Webster Animal Shelter, 525 Post Oak Road, Madison, MS 39110.
