Dr. Michael William Walker, 71 of Magnolia, MS, passed away January 29, 2023 at Aston Court, McComb, MS. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at East Union Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until memorial services at 11:00 AM. Bro. Gary Havlin will officiate.
Michael was born in Tishomingo, Oklahoma on April 9, 1951 to Morgan William Walker and Jewell Adams Walker.
He was a member of East Union Baptist Church in Magnolia. Michael graduated from South Pike High School, received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and continued his education by receiving a master's and a doctorate degree from Purdue University. Dr. Walker worked in business and robotics in the Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA and continued his career at Nordson in Amherst, OH. Dr. Walker continued his career as a Professor at Clemson University, the University of Michigan and locally at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
Michael enjoyed the outdoors, spending time fishing, camping, woodworking, painting, golfing, and playing pool. He enjoyed singing in the choir and playing guitar to his beloved dogs; Jack, Daisy and Sophie. He was a devoted PaPa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wayne Presley Walker, a sister Connie Walker Spell, his in laws John and Nancye Lee, and a son-in-law Eric Aslakson.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years Debbie Lee Walker, a son John Michael Walker (Courtney) of Magnolia, MS, a daughter Nancye "Katie"Aslakson of Poulsbo, WA, grandchildren Sarah Elizabeth Walker, Ian Michael Walker, Luke Alexander Walker, Alyssa Aslakson Ortiz, Anthony Morgan Andren, Caleb Joseph Andren, in-laws Myrle and Brenda Newman and Brian and Mary Lynn McDaniel, along with other nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Hospice Compassus and Aston Court Retirement Community for the loving care given to Dr. Michael Walker during his stay with them.
