Graveside services for Mr. Tony Mikell Turnage, 72, will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, January 15, 2024 at the Reeves Cemetery.  The Reverend Trent Moak will officiate.  Mr. Turnage, a resident of McComb, passed away at his residence on Friday, January 5, 2024.

He was born May 3, 1951 at the Old City Hospital in McComb and was the only child of Buster and Louise Turnage.  He was graduated from Southwest Community College and began his career as shipping/receiving clerk for American Box Company in Fernwood until his retirement.

Mikell's hobbies included caring for many animals at his home/farm.  He had a very large assortment of large and small animals.  He was an original "Old McDonald" taking in many strays and fostering pets from the Pike County area.  He was also a talented artist who worked in many art mediums.  He painted for himself and gave lessons for many years to people, young and old.  He enjoyed using his artistic abilities for the community by donating his time and talents to painting scenes on the exterior of buildings in Magnolia and painting interior scenes for Magnolia restaurants such as Creole Cottage Cafe and La Mariposa.  He did many additional community projects with his younger, brother-like, friend, Jimmy Harris of Magnolia.  These projects included writing plays and performing in them at "the village" in downtown Magnolia and portraying numerous characters in Jimmy's Historic Cemetery Tours in Magnolia.

Mikell is suirvived by his mother, Louise Toney Turnage; and a family friend, Jimmy Harris; and numerous other friends throughout Pike County.
