Myrtle Kidd Coney Lawson, 84, of Brookhaven, MS (formerly of McComb) passed away on January 7, 2024, at the HaloHavens Assisted Living Center in Brookhaven.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 12, 2024, at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jeff Davis will officiate, and burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery.
Myrtle was born on June 29, 1939, in Richmond, VA to the late Jessie R. and Evelyn L. Mays Kidd.
She was a pattern grader for Kellwood Company in Summit and a member of Wellman Baptist Church of Bogue Chitto. Myrtle was a wonderful and loving wife, mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother who worked hard all her life caring for her family and loved ones. She enjoyed sewing, drawing, painting, and sketching. Her passion for the arts extended to her grandchildren whom she taught to draw. Myrtle will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Lee Coney, and her second husband, Jimmie N. Lawson; infant son, Gary Lynn Coney; brothers, Billy Kidd and Jessie Kidd; sister, Phyllis Smith; and son in-law, David P. Russell Sr.
Myrtle is survived by son, Rickey (Pamela) Coney; daughter, Anita C. Russell; sister, Jackie (Robert) Powell; grandchildren, David (Kelli) Russell II, Celeste (Jason) Westmoreland, Jennifer (Matthew) Evans, and Clay (Christi) Russell; and great-grandchildren, Ava Russell, Silas Russell, Cole Russell, and Reed Russell.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jaci King and the entire HaloHavens staff for their loving care of our mother and grandmother.
Pallbearers will be David Russell II, Clay Russell, Charlie Davis, Ron Means, and Steve Rowell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Children's Village, Dickerson Place Campus, 491 Dickerson Lane S.E., Brookhaven, MS 39601.
