Nellie Lavern Bean Hale, 93, of McComb, MS died January 10, 2023 at Camellia Estates in McComb, MS.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb from 5 PM until 8 PM and will continue Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10 AM until service at 11 AM at Gillsburg Baptist Church in Gillsburg. MS. Dr. Victor Walsh and Rev. Austin Bean will officiate and burial will take place at Gillsburg Memorial Gardens in Gillsburg, MS.

Mrs. Hale was born on March 22, 1929 in McComb, MS to the late Haywood Kornegay and Hattie Kornegay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Edwin L. Bean, Sr. and Johnny Hale, one son, Haywood Estle "Woody" Bean,
and four siblings.

She is survived by two sons Ed Bean and Brad C. Bean (Amy), seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one step-son, two step-daughters, three step-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

"Lavern" as she was affectionately known as in McComb, was a city girl who married Edwin Bean to live on a dairy farm in Gillsburg where she lived the life of a farm wife, but never lost her zeal for clothes, shopping and traveling. She graduated from McComb High School in McComb, MS. She was a member of Gillsburg Baptist Church in Gillsburg, MS. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Bryce Bean, Tyler Bean, Brandon Bean, Christopher Bean, Nicholas Bean and Austin Bean.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice Compassus, the staff of Camellia Estates, and her sitter Clydette Patterson.
