Nellie Joyce Smith Spring, 95, a resident of Smithdale, MS passed away on January 20, 2026 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church from 10 AM until services at 1 PM. Bro. Eric Moak will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Nellie was born at her family home on December 6, 1930 in Smithdale, MS to the late Jack S. and Ethel T. Smith. She was a longtime member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where she worked faithfully in different aspects of the church. She loved to make baby blankets and give them as gifts. She also enjoyed bird watching,  gardening flowers and vegetables.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 loving years, Joseph B. Spring; one sister Alice Faye Steele; and her brother Jack Smith Jr.

She is survived by her sons Michael (Polly) Spring and Phillip (Pam) Spring; four grandchildren; Jessica S. Freeman (Jeff), Clint Spring (Kelli), Conner Spring (Amber) and Shannon Spring (Melissa), five great-grandchildren; and one sister Evelyn Hilton.
