Patsy Lois
Brumfield Causey
July 25, 1934 – November 22, 2023
Patsy Lois Brumfield Causey, 89, a resident of McComb, MS, formerly of Liberty, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 16th at 10:00 AM until services at 12:00 Noon at East Fork Baptist Church. Dr. Stanley Weatherford will officiate.
Patsy was born July 25, 1934 in Magnolia, Mississippi to Jamie and Mary Brumfield of East Fork, Mississippi. She married James Allen Causey of Liberty in 1952 and welcomed their son, Patton, in 1956 and daughter, Clara, in 1959.
From an early age Patsy knew she wanted to be a teacher and after high school she pursued her dream of becoming a mathematics teacher. Patsy attended Southwest Mississippi Community College and The University of Southern Mississippi. She received both her bachelor's degree and master's degree in mathematics from The University of Southern Mississippi. Copiah-Lincoln Community College graciously hired her as a first year teacher to teach mathematics to students just a few years shy of her age. Due to her husband's military career she and her family moved both around the United States and Europe. While she did not break the record of most State teaching licenses obtained by one person, she certainly tried to set a record. Patsy taught mathematics in four states at eight schools. Inspiring and educating students was a true calling and passion of Patsy's. Even after retiring in 1992, she and her husband supported many students financially through scholarships at The University of Southern Mississippi, Southwest Mississippi Community College, and Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
Patsy loved to travel and visited six continents and all fifty states during her lifetime. No souvenir was too big or too small to bring back for her grandchildren. She and her husband went on many international trips with tour groups and made lifelong friends while abroad. While she loved to travel and traveled well, Patsy truly loved being around her friends, family, children and grandchildren. The door to her house was always open for anyone and everyone.
Patsy and her husband were members of East Fork Baptist Church. In the summer she could be found at Vacation Bible School helping in the kitchen with snacks. She loved the community of East Fork and thought fondly of the residents in the community. Patsy, along with her husband, were true philanthropists and wanted to help as many people as they could both here at home and abroad.
She is survived by her children Patton Allen Causey of Brandon, MS, and Clara Causey McKinnon (Warren) of Theodore, AL, grandchildren Ashley Causey Sloan (Brennon), Cheyenne Causey, Morgan Causey, great Grandson Brayden Sloan, and daughter-in-law Lisa Causey, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Claiborne in McComb and Compassus hospice care for the loving care they gave to Ms. Patsy during her stay and time with them.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Patsy can be made to East Fork Baptist Church, 4505 N Greensburg Rd. Smithdale, MS 39664
