Patsy was born on January 29, 1943 to the late Roy Curtis Knighten and Vernell Ricks Knighten in Columbia, LA. In 1958, her family moved to McComb, MS. She completed her high school education there. She started as a young teen in PALS, the 1st Church of the Nazarene's Youth Group. There she met her husband and only love of 37 years. They built a Godly foundation for their 4 children in that church. Years later along with their children and other family and friends they helped plant a new church in McComb called Trinity United Church. She was a devoted member of that church and prayed for God to "do it again!" "Manifest yourself again in a mighty way!"
She started out as a cafeteria attendant at Fernwood Elementary School then moved up to the South Pike Junior High. The last 4 years of her 13 year career was as an assistant manager. She loved to sew for her girls and the public. She enjoyed working in her rock gardens, making macramé crafts for others, and working with children at the school and the church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Her family was everything to her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 loving years, Donald Ray McKenzie; one granddaughter Robin Nicole McKenzie; one brother and sister-in-law Roy "Bo" and Geri Knighten; and two sons-in-law Mark Anthony Norton and Daren Eric Woodall.
She is survived by two sons Robin Wayne (Katy) McKenzie of McComb, MS and Roger Glen (Robyn "Smurfbaby") McKenzie of McComb, MS; two daughters Bobbie Estelle McKenzie-Woodall of Summit, MS and Rhonda Nell McKenzie-Norton of Summit, MS; four grandchildren Curtis Wayne McKenzie, Marlie "Pooh" (Cody) Cooper, Laura "Kat" (Robby) Smylie, and Jana "Bug" McKae Norton; five great-grandchildren Kynzie Smylie, Khloie Smylie, Kylan Cooper, Kash Cooper, and Kolt Cooper; one sister Linda Joyce Knighten Matthews of West Monroe, LA; along with many special family friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and especially her church family.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Sharp, Larry McKenzie, Cody Cooper, Robert Hopkins, Hershel Jr. Jones, Michael Knighten, Stevie McKenzie, Robby Smylie, and Scott McKenzie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Foster, Jason Knighten, Gerald McKenzie, Felder Dunn and Jacob McCoy.
