Richard "Dick" W. Abel, 93, of Magnolia, MS passed away April 6, 2024 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Visitation will be Sunday evening at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 5 until 7 PM and continues Monday from 10 until services at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. Dr. David Millican will officiate.

Mr. Abel was born May 6, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Edward Abel and Bertha Bloom Abel.  He was a retired flooring technician for Jamesway Department Stores and he also worked for the Keystone Racetrack in Philadelphia.  He loved refinishing furniture. One of his favorite pieces was a laminated serving tray embossed with gold leaf.  He was also known to be a prankster.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Debra Abel; two sisters Thelma Guttman and Marcie Weiser.

He is survived by his daughter Michelle Martin and her husband Dwight of Magnolia; one grandson Seth Croft of Magnolia; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
