(Bob) Maybee
January 8, 1940 – February 7, 2024
Robert A. (Bob) Maybee, 84, passed away peacefully at home in Bellaire TX on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, following a courageous battle with Sarcoma cancer.
Born January 8, 1940, he was the son of the late Charles and Delcenia Caywood Maybee.
A native Houstonian, Bob attended Houston Public Schools and Allen Military Academy in Bryan TX where he graduated in 1958. He was the Outstanding Cadet his Junior Year and graduated with the rank of Major. After graduation he was a professional photographer for a few years before joining the Marines during the Berlin Crisis.
He spent a couple years aboard a carrier in the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis where he had the opportunity to serve as the carrier's photographer. After an honorable discharge from the Marines he graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Business and Finance. He began his career in banking and later formed his own company where he worked with financial software packages on mainframes.
He was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Houston where he served as Acolyte Director for many years. He was an active member of the South End Optimist Club of Houston for over 60 years.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, his sister Nina (Steve) Wilson, in-laws Paul Edward and Doris Faye Price McCormick, and brother-in-law Alvin (Emily) McCormick.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Pauline McCormick Maybee. He is also survived by his niece Brandy (Tom) Tomlinson and their children and grandchildren as well as other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb MS followed by a graveside service at 2:15 p.m. in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Houston TX.
