Obituary

Robert Earl Greenlee, 87, of Summit, MS died of natural causes on June 26, 2022, in Kosciusko, MS.

Mr. Greenlee was born in McComb, MS on December 22, 1934 to the late Jodie and Eloise Greenlee.

Over his lifetime he answered to many different names: Paps, Bobcat, Bobby, Daddy, Uncle Bobby, Greentree, and Ski King, but his favorite was the simple Greenlee that his wife, Peggy Sanderford, used often.  He was an avid basketball player in High School, being selected as All-State in his senior season.  Shortly after his HS graduation in 1954, he enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed at Keesler AFB.  Although he never saw active combat, it was during this time that he learned the skills that he would call upon in his next chapter of life.  After his patriotic service to his country, he then completed 35 years of service in the employment of AT&T. He began this chapter in Jackson, MS where he would meet the love of his life.  On Jan 13, 1966, he married her, and in the first few years, they returned to McComb, MS to begin their family life.   They adopted a beautiful daughter, Kristian Elaine Greenlee in 1968, and completed their family in 1971 with the adoption of Robert Kirtis Greenlee.  Later that decade they established Statewide Pools in 1979, a company which would provide backyard joy for several decades to the residents around him.  Mr. Greenlee had a larger-than-life sense of humor, carefully honed alongside his life-long friends.  He joked and pranked his way through life, and if you spent any time around him, you were certainly to hear him complain about his infamous bout with PMK, a rare affliction more often called Pool Man's Knee.   He was a long-time member of FBC Summit, his church family being of utmost importance to him.  His favorite hobby was showing love to his immediate and extended family.  He was instrumental in helping sisters and sisters-in-law rear nieces and nephews.  He then poured into his grandchildren when they came along.  He never met a stranger, and his family all wanted to be his favorite.   Most evenings you could find him cutting grass and lighting bon-fires, that is if he hadn't gotten the tractor stuck.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Helen, one grandson Christopher, brothers-in-laws Ray and Billy, sister- in-law Mildred, and his beloved wife Peggy.

He is survived by a host of family and friends.  These include his daughter Kristy, his son Kirt, granddaughters Tori, Lexi, Lacey, and Lainey, two great-grandsons Andrew and Jake, two sisters Faye and Teri, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 1, 2022, at 1:00 PM at FBC Summit with Dr. Larry LeBlanc officiating. Hartman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
