Obituary

Ronald John Bankston, Jr., 72, of Summit, MS passed away on February 17, 2024, at his residence following a long battle with cancer. Ron was born to Ronald John Bankston, Sr and Gloria Labit Bankston Nami on May 29, 1951 in New Orleans, LA. Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date.  Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Ron was a member of the Church of the Mediator/Redeemer in McComb, MS. He was in the Merchant Marines during the Vietnam War. Ron married Jacklyn Pearson in Oxford on August 23, 1986.  He worked in the oil and gas industry as a welder on pipe lines and off shore for many years, then came home and worked as a talented welder for McComb Diesel for the last 19 years where he was able to spend time with his family and enjoy his hobbies.   Ron loved horses, catahoulas, hog hunting and rodeos. He and Jackie spent many seasons in the stands of the Ole Miss Rebels football games. Ron loved his Harley and took his dream trip to Sturgis, SD for the 81st annual rally with two brothers and a friend in 2021.  His gentle easygoing manner put everyone at ease. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Preceded by his mother, his brothers Ricky Bankston and Michael Nami and his grandmother Lillian Braun Labit Toups.

He is survived by his wife Jackie Pearson Bankston of Summit, his father Ronald J. Bankston, Sr. of McComb, his sons Dustin L. Bankston, and Ronald J. Bankston , III, his grandson Bryce Bankston, and great grandson Dextin Wayne Bankston, his brothers Eddie Bankston (Teri), David Nami (Sharon), and Asa Nami, brothers-in-law Thomas, Rodney (Allison) and Tread Pearson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
