Santa Elizabeth Walker, 72, a longtime resident of Fernwood, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Diversicare of Brookhaven, MS.

Santa was born on April 7, 1950. She was the daughter of William Winton and Edwina Godfrey Walker.

She graduated from South Pike High School and became a Licensed Practical Nurse after attending Copiah-Lincoln Junior College. Santa enjoyed working with the geriatric population and utilized her certification by working at several nursing homes in the area.

Santa was an avid reader. She also excelled at cross-stitch and won several ribbons over the years at the Mississippi State Fair, including at least three blue ribbons, for her intricate needlework. She enjoyed photography, as well, and took many great photos.

Santa attended church at Fernwood Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brother, Edwin Winton Walker, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Adams, of Dallas, Texas; her cousin, Cynthia Poole Barlow and her husband, Bob; her cousin, Carolyn Smith White and her husband Bob; and her cousin Larry Smith.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Diversicare of Brookhaven and Compassus Hospice for their loving care of Santa the past several months.

Services will be at Fernwood Baptist Church on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation preceding at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Trent Moak will officiate and burial will be in Pike Memorial Gardens. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
