Sherwin Albert Beadle Sr., 87, left this sin-filled world to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven on September 7, 2026.

A visitation will be held Monday September 14, 2026 at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb from 10 AM untill 10:30 AM followed by a graveside service at 11 AM in Osyka cemetery in Osyka, MS. Rev. Jacob Williams and Areal LeJeune officiating.

Sherwin was born on November 11, 1938, in Morgan City, Louisiana, to Lela and Erwin P. Beadle Sr. He was the third of six children and grew up a true Cajun boy, spending his younger years fishing, hunting, and swimming in the bayous of South Louisiana.

He graduated from Morgan City High School, where he played the clarinet in the school band and sang with the group Blue Notes. Sherwin also had a passion for racing his hydroplane on the rivers and lakes of South Louisiana. He and his father, along with friends, built the hydroplane themselves, and he proudly raced it under the name “Ms B.”

While still in high school, Sherwin joined the Louisiana National Guard and served for three years, stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, just before the Vietnam War. He attended Nicholls State College before moving to Denham Springs, Louisiana, where he lived with his sister, Mary Louise, and her husband, Allen.

It was there, across the street, that Sherwin met Betty Joe Mixon, the love of his life. They were married for 63 wonderful years. Together, they devoted their lives to serving their Lord and Savior and their community. Sherwin considered it one of the greatest honors of his life to serve his Lord alongside his beloved wife.

Sherwin helped establish First Presbyterian Church in Denham Springs, Louisiana, where he served as a ruling elder. After moving to Osyka, Mississippi, in 1966, he continued his service at Osyka Presbyterian Church, where he served as a ruling elder and Sunday school superintendent for more than 50 years.

In Osyka, Sherwin and Betty Joe owned and operated Beadle’s Grocery Store. He later returned to Morgan City and worked for Tidewater Marine Services for 10 years. Following his retirement from Tidewater, Sherwin worked for Royer Mobile Homes in McComb, Mississippi, owned by Patsy and Larry White. The Whites became like family to him and his family, and he was grateful for the friendship and fellowship they shared.

Above all else, Sherwin’s greatest passion was his faith. He loved telling others about the wonderful things Jesus had done for him and his family. His faith was not simply something he professed; it was the foundation of his life, his marriage, his service to others, and his hope for eternity.

Sherwin was preceded in death by his beloved children, Sherwin Albert Beadle Jr. “Scooter”, Kathy Joe Beadle Gaines, Chad Mixon Beadle, and Kristy Gail Beadle.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Lela and Erwin P. Beadle Sr.; his sisters, Mary Louise Ramaraz and her husband, Dale; Lela May Beadle Bergeron; and Audrey Jean Beadle Landry and her husband, Charles; and his brothers, Erwin P. Beadle Jr. and his wife, Joice, and Clarence Richard Beadle and his wife, Sandy.

Sherwin is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Joe Mixon Beadle; his daughter-in-law, Angelia Beadle; his brother-in-law, Chris Mixon and his wife, Bennie Jean; his brother-in-law, Eddie Bergeron; his grandchildren, Areal Beadle LeJeune and Wilton, Maranda Beadle Morgan and Zach, Mariha Beadle Elie and Jason, Katie Joe Gaines, and Dustyn Joseph Dickerson and Haley; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Sherwin leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, hard work, and devotion to his family. Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he loved and faithfully served throughout his life.
