Shiela J. (Blair) Betts passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025. Shiela was a resident of Camellia Estates in McComb, MS. She was born in Natchez, MS on November 16, 1948. She lived in Natchez for thirty years until she met the love of her life and husband Alfred N. Betts. They were married for 26 years, eventually building their country retirement home together near Vicksburg, MS. She enjoyed the company of their beloved pups. Her favorite was the Pomeranian so there was always at least one in the pack.
Shiela attended Cathedral School in Natchez and graduated from Natchez High. She furthered her education at Delta State University then moved to the University of Southern Miss where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degree in education. Shiela taught elementary age students for 30 plus years in the Mississippi public school system. She volunteered summers with the Cub Scouts. Her passion was educating children, snuggling with puppies, reading a good book, and being at Al's side.Shiela was loved by family, friends, and students.
She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Hubert Blair, her husband Al, and a daughter Jacqueline.
Shiela is survived by her first cousins Charlene (Kincke) Brown of McComb, MS, Ike Kincke of D'Iberville, MS, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on November 1, 2025 at 9:00 AM services will follow at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at the Natchez City Cemetery following mass.
