September 5, 1938 – May 27, 2025
Syble Gay Hart Lang, 86, a resident of McComb, MS; went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 27, 2025 at her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM, graveside services will follow in Hollywood cemetery. Dr. David MiIllican will officiate.
Syble was born in Bogue Chitto, MS on September 5, 1938 to Alton Hart and Edith Rose Cannon Hart. She was a member of Summit First Baptist Church. She and her husband Roger L. Lang have enjoyed sixty-five years together. Syble's priority in life was her family, she was the "epitome" of a "Southern Belle". She graciously welcomed guest into her immaculate home, often serving her famous "chocolate cake" which she learned to make as a teenager. Syble was an excellent seamstress, making drapes, dresses, pillows and even designing and making her own wedding dress and veil. She was an active participant in several volunteer local clubs. Her talent and love for beautiful flowers excelled in the "Summit Garden Club". She was a past member of the McComb Junior Auxiliary, where she served in various offices; also a past member of the McComb Exchangettes. Also, a lifetime member of DAR, the Judith Robinson Chapter.
It was Syble's dream to travel and after her sons graduated from USM, she made her dreams come true traveling extensively world wide with friends and her husband. Some of the places included FBC tour of the "Ark Encounter and Creation Museum", FBC tour of Charleston South Carolina, FBC tour of Branson, FBC tour of Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains, Tour of Trails of the Rocky Mountains, Tour of the Western US including the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, Hearst Castle and Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, along with numerous other destinations. Also, FBC tour of the Amish County, tour of the Pacific Northwest Canadian Rockies, Lake Tahoe, Victoria, British Columbia, Glacier National Park and numerous other cities in the northwest. She enjoyed cruising Eastern Mexico and the ports of Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel; also, Voyage of the Glaciers, Alaska and Canada. Additional tours in Israel of the Holy Land; The British Isles, including England, Scotland and Ireland; The Heart of Europe, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France; and Ancient Egypt, Cairo, Luxor, Memphis, Giza and several other cities in Egypt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton Hart and Edith Rose Cannon Hart. Her brothers, Roger Hart, Wendell Hart, Lloyd Hart all of Bogue Chitto, MS, Huey Hart and wife Marilyn Smith Hart and their infant daughter of Lloyd Star, nephew in law Donald Earl Smith of Brookhaven, sister Janis Hart Landrum of Pearl, MS and husband Bernie Landrum, her nieces Hanna Hart Smith of Brookhaven, and Regina Lynn Hart Bogue Chitto, her mother and father in law Amon Lang and Marguerite O. Lang of Fernwood, Bonnie Lang Adams and husband Venton Ray Adams of Summit, sister in law Willie Ann Lang of Fernwood.
Syble is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Roger L. Lang of McComb, MS, two sons Charles Jason Lang (Angel Carr Lang) of Lumberton, MS and Mark Eric Lang (Samantha Daugherty Lang) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Angel Gail Lang of Purvis, Jason Preston Carr Lang of Lumberton, MS and Wesley Hutchinson Lang of Dallas, TX; sisters Frances Hart Davis of Madison, MS, Christine Hart Smith Wright (Cliff Wright) of Dallas and sisters in law Betty Lou (Donald Lee Carlisle), and Wyonzie Smith Hart, brother in law Randy Eugene Lang and his daughter Stacy Lang, nephews Brett Hart (Vicki) along with their children, Stephon Luke Hart and his son, Doyle Hart and his children, James Miller Johnston III and his children, Joseph Kevin Johnston (Charity) and their children, and Ashley Wade Smith; nieces Debbie Hart Smith and her son and his children, Dana Smith Coplin (Scott) and their children and grandchildren, Amy Smith Helterbrand (Mark) and their children and Tanya Elizabeth Davis, extended family Hortense Smith Ricks and Maxine Monley her caretaker and friend. Syble leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue through the years.
Pallbearers will be Ashley W. Smith, Jason Preston Lang, Wesley H. Lang, Stephon Hart, James M Johnston III and Jeff Adams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Adams and Doyle Hart.
