Thad Powell Jr., 87, of Zachary, LA passed away on July 21, 2022 at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, LA.

A graveside service will be held Saturday July 23, 2022 at 2 PM in the Liberty City Cemetery in Liberty, MS. Elder and nephew, Doug Cornelius, will officiate. Hartman-Jones funeral home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Thad was born in Liberty, MS on April 13, 1935. He was the son of the late Thad and Helen Ferguson Powell.

Thad was a retired Insurance Adjuster; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and was of the Baptist faith. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed farming, parched peanuts, and followed all major college sporting events. He was a member of the Lions Club and was an annual Christmas letter writer. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a wife Frances Buie Powell, one son James R. Powell, two sisters Marie Cornelius and Elizabeth Lyons.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons Greg T. Powell (Michelle L.) and John R. Powell (Eva B.); five grandchildren Lauren Alphonso (James), Christina Powell, Jack Powell, Kyleigh Powell, Brett Powell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
