Therrel Britton ''Britt" Simmons, 87, passed away September 5, 2022, at home.

Visitation will be held Friday 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at East Union Baptist Church and Saturday at East Union Baptist Church from 11:00 am to Noon.  Service will follow at Noon with the Reverends Gary Havlin and Brandon Lynch officiating. Interment of ashes will be conducted at a later date.

Born November 1, 1934, to Therrel A. Simmons and Gladys Addison Simmons Carruth, Mr. Simmons was a native of Woodrow Community, east of Magnolia, Mississippi.  He married Mary Anne Dennis in 1955 and was a lifelong resident of Pike County.  He worked as a dairyman, cattleman, and farmer at his family farm until his death.

Mr. Simmons served as a deacon at East Union Baptist Church for many years.  He was also a director of the Pike County Farm Bureau.  He loved baseball and softball and played as a pitcher on his community team in his youth.  Mr. Simmons positively impacted the lives of many people in his community and will be remembered fondly by them.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, and son-in-law Tom Bill Myers.  He is survived by his children: Deborah Myers of Seminole, FL, Cindy (Joey) Allen of Magnolia, MS, Mitch (Velvet) Simmons of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren: Laurie (Adam) Steele, Joy (Lee) Bedsaul, Amy Evans, Brittany (Chris) Mabile, Tyler (Clarice) Rainey, Kristin (Chealen) Martin, Travis (Ciara) Myers, brother-in-law Byron (Anne) Dennis, sister-in-law Jane Grantham, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
