Obituary

Tyrone "Bullet" Roberts, 81, of Magnolia, MS., passed away on February 17, 2022, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, February 21, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Bro. Tim Daniels officiating. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roberts was born in Collins, MS (Covington County) on October 5, 1940, to the late Gurvis F. and Versia Norris Roberts.

He was a proud retired veteran of the U.S. Army having served 23 years to include the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a retired Deputy of the Pike County Sheriff Department, and retired bus driver from Bus Supply Company. Mr. Roberts was a longtime active member of Masonic Lodge #214 in Magnolia, a charter member and 33rd Degree Knight of St Andrews and Chaplain for the Scottish Rite Bodies Byram Chapter, American Legion Post #0511 in McComb, Camellia City Classic Cruisers, and Board member of the Fernwood Fire Department.

He was a devout Christian who loved his Lord and served as Deacon, choir member and band member at First Baptist Church Magnolia. He was married to his wife, Bernice, for 57 years and dearly loved his family. He was a loyal friend and confidant to many who knew him.

Mr. Roberts loved playing guitar, specifically old country and gospel music. He was always telling stories to anyone who would listen. He loved watching old westerns, cruising around town in his classic car, building and collecting models of cars and military aircraft, and was quick to befriend a neighborhood dog. He especially loved being with his grandchildren and treating his grand-dog to chicken nuggets. There was something uniquely special about Mr. Roberts (Bullet) which caused a person to want to be his friend. He will be dearly missed not only by his family but by his community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Joe Roberts.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; his daughter Lisa Wall and son-in-law John; his son Michael and daughter-in-law Nicole; his sister Sharon Roberts of Hattiesburg, MS; his grandchildren Sullivan, Phypher, Amber and Austin.

Pallbearers will be Doug Tadlock, Frank Breaux, Ben Roland, Chris Kyzar, Randy Boyd and Lonnie Cox.

Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Lewis, members of the Fernwood Fire Department and Camellia City Classic Cruisers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Roberts' memory to First Baptist Church of Magnolia, 126 S. Clark Ave., Magnolia, MS 39652.
