Victor
Fairburn
August 17, 1955 – January 8, 2024
Victor Thomas Fairburn, 68, passed away January 8, 2024, at his residence. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at New Heights Baptist Church and will continue there at 9 a.m. Friday until services at 11:00 a.m. Burial is in Jesse & Hannah Brumfield Cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Victor loved the Lord Jesus Christ; he was a faithful servant having served as a deacon at New Heights Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church. He graduated from MSU in 1978 with a degree in agricultural education and extension. He was a volunteer fireman for 20 years with the Summit Fire Department. He enjoyed disaster relief work with Eight Days of Hope, Nailbenders, and he served on the board of Southwest Christian Outreach Ministries. He was a jack-of-all-trades; welding, carpentry and general problem solving were just a few of his God-given gifts. He loved his church, his wife, his family, and most of all his grandchildren. Since retiring from Brumfield Oil Company, after 40 years of service as plant manager, you could either find him hauling his grandchildren around town or stringing up ornaments at his daughter's pottery studio. His kind and gentle spirit will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Van and Lanell Fairburn, his brother, Van Fairburn, Jr., and his father-in-law, Pat H. Brumfield, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Brumfield Fairburn, his daughters, Victoria Fairburn Smith (Matthew) of Summit, and Hillary Fairburn Freeman (A.J.) of McComb; two sisters, Mattie Smith (Winston) of Buford, GA, and Mary Turner (Jerry) of Tylertown, and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Fairburn Long (Jeff) of Madison; a mother-in-law, Anne Q. Brumfield, affectionately known to him as "Mama Anne", a brother-in-law, Pat Brumfield (Tina), sisters-in-law, Patsy Giles (Lawrence) and Cyndy Catchings (Bill), all of McComb; three grandchildren, Chad Seals, Eli Smith and James Victor Smith, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Marti Lewis, Ric Johnson, Benjamin Catchings, Liam Catchings, Johnathan Freeman, Jeremy Turner, and Jonathan Turner.
Memorials may be made to New Heights Baptist Church, Post Office Box 649, Summit, MS 39666 or International Outreach Ministries (IOM), Post Office Box 2140, McComb, MS 39649.
