November 7, 1940 – June 8, 2025
Virginia Louise Deer, 84, went home to be with her Heavenly Father at her residence June 8, 2025.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 at Navilla Baptist Church from 12 PM until services at 2 PM. Bro. Trent Bilbo will officiate and burial will be at the church cemetery. Hartman Jones will be in charge of arrangements.
Virginia was born on November 7, 1940 to the late James Barney Yates and Dorothy Tullis Yates. She was a longtime member of Navilla Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 30 years. She was an accountant for several businesses, and as a deputy sheriff in Monticello, MS in 1969. She also attended many mission trips building churches across the United States. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles and most importantly spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lee W. Deer; one sister Euna Deer; a great-granddaughter Sarah Faith Young; and two sons-in-law Pete Young and Chuck Roberts.
She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Roberts, Deloras Young, and Donna Dyess (Rickey); Nine grandchildren Holly Rachel (David), Elizabeth Riggs (James), Heather Jetton (Brad), Hanna McDowell (Donovan), Matthew Wilson, Kimberly Brister (Eric) Stephanie Herrin, Christy Dyess, and Melissa Young (Jonathan); twelve great-grandchildren Taylor Jetton, Hunter Kate Jetton, Link Rachel, Ezio Rachel, Liliana Riggs, Charley Grace Brister, Kameron Herrin, Grayson Williams, Leelan Herrin, Maci Wilson, Tanner Wilson, and Ethan Young; a sister Sharon Bardwell; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Young, David Rachel, Jeff Deer, James Wicker, Glenn Sharp, and William Pannell.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pike County VFW.
