Vonnie Carney Givens, 77, of Summit, MS passed away Thursday December 26, 2024 at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS.

Visitation will be Tuesday December 31, 2024 at Tangipahoa Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until services there at 11:00 AM.  Rev. Mike Morris will officiate. Special music will be provided by Joe McKenzie.  Burial will follow in the Trinity United Church Cemetery in McComb.  Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Cooper, Maguire Givens, Garrett Price, Matthew Miller, Turner Owens, and Sam Schifano.  Honorary pallbearers Maddox Hughes and Albert Jones.

Mrs. Givens was born April 19, 1947 in Butler, AL to the late Robert Thomas Carney and Geneva Mae Mitchum Carney.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.  She was a member of Tangipahoa Baptist Church where she was affectionately known as "Maw-Maw".  She loved spending time with her family, and watching movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.C. Givens; five brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her children Kenny Pearson (Lisa), Dawn Cooper (Jeff), Chris Givens (Monica), Ashlee Hughes and Jonathan Givens (Kiersten); sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her special longtime friend Diane Simmons, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
