Wendell was born on October 29, 1960 to Grady Roosevelt Alexander and Mary Nell Braswell Alexander in McComb, MS. Wendell will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was their go to man and could fix just about anything and if he couldn't he knew someone who could. We will all miss that laughing, smiling face after he said something funny. He loved to travel and all you had to say was go and he was ready. He was so looking forward to his retirement in three months so he could travel and spend time with his family. He loved his family immensely, but his grandchildren had him wrapped around their fingers. If any of them had a ballgame or function, he was always there if at all possible. He is on his biggest journey now, traveling those streets of gold, oh what beautiful sites he must be seeing now.
He was a member of West McComb Baptist Church and served with the Mississippi National Guard. Wendell was the Pike County Road Manager since 2019 and worked for the City of McComb from 2005-2019. He made many friends during this time.
Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law Mary Elizabeth"Liz" and Harold "Butch" Hoatland, his in laws Harold Lamar and Jeanie D'Abadie May, brother-in-law Glen Lamar May and a niece Shelby May.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Jan May Alexander, his children Jennifer Alexander and Wendell Alexander, Jr. (Crystal), grandchildren Joshua Privatte, Caitlin Privatte and Evan Alexander, a brother Wayne Alexander (Lauralee), a brother-in-law Tommy May (Joy), a sister-in-law Pat Reeves May, nephews Jeremy Hoatland (Lisa), Timothy Alexander (Ashley), Tyler Alexander, Cannan May, Stephen May and Josiah May, nieces Natalie Alexander and Jamie Hoatland, great nephews Jaxon Thornton and Nathaniel Hoatland and great nieces Addison Kate Thornton , Olivia Aucion, and Annabelle Alexander, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
