Obituary

William "Bill" Marshall Burris, Sr, 68, of Summit, passed away on June 7, 2025 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones after a year long illness which he remained strong and in good spirits to the end. He beat cancer like a champ!

A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 5 PM until 8 PM, continuing Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 11 AM until services at 1 PM. Burial will be at Mars Hill Baptist Church.

Bill was born on September 5, 1956 to the late Hilburn and Emily Burris. He joined the United States Navy at age 17. During those four years, he traveled the world and made many memories. After his time in the Navy, he worked offshore where many remember him as being a dependable, hard worker. Later, he would work as a truck driver, traveling across the United States and eventually driving the feed truck for Sanderson Farms.

He loved animals, traveling, and always stood up for what he believed.

He was a loving husband and father. He always worked hard to provide for his family. He loved his wife, Samantha, with all his heart. Together, they had two children and made many memories as a family. He and Samantha were married for 19 years before her early passing. He loved and missed her until his last breath.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Samantha Burris; two sisters Carolyn Burris and Roxie Clark; and one granddaughter Karlie Burris.
