At the age of 80, William McMillian, a resident of Magnolia, MS, peacefully succumbed to Alzheimer's at his home, surrounded by his family.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Magnolia Cemetery at 12 PM. Hartman Jones Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Karen Stewart and her husband Dale Stewart of Magnolia, MS, and son Willam Harvey McMillian (Billy) and his wife Tomi McMillian from Luling, Louisiana, his grandchildren, Joshua (Brittany) Stewart, Jessica (Derek) Mason, Erin (Chris) Crouch, Hailey McMillian, Billy McMillian and Heather Hughes, and three stepchildren, James, Michael, and Theresa Brinson all of Cininnati, OH. He is also survived by 5 brothers: Roy McMillian, Jerry McMillian, Richard Williamson, David Barger, and Daniel Barger, along with 3 sisters Edna McMillian, Debra Barger, and Gloria Williamson.
William McMillian is preceded in death by his father, William Harvey McMillian, and Mother Dora Dean Brown McMillian, as well as one daughter Lydia Ann McMillian Buie, a brother Robert "Bob" McMillian, James "Jimmy" Barger, and sister Lynda McMillian Guidry. His wife Denise Brinson McMillian also preceded him in death.
At the age of 17, William entered matrimony with Linda A. Taylor while residing in Cincinnati. They ventured to Kentucky and exhanged vows on Halloween day, with William humorously recounting that he was "tricked" while Linda was "treated." Their journey together took them from Ohio to Flordia, Louisiana, and Mississippi, resulting in the birth of two children. Unfortunately, their union ended in divorce in February 1976.
Subseqauently, William found companionship with Janet Brinson. They tired the knot and relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio where they welcomed a son named William H. McMillian. They decided to relocate once again back to Louisiana to raise their son in the South in warmer climate. Despite the joyous additon to their family, the marriage eventually lead to a divorce.
Throughout his life's journey, Williams path led him to Denise Hoover Brinson. They exchanged vows in Louisiana in either 1980 or 1981 and forged a marital bond that endured for 36 years. William frequently voiced that he had discoved the love of his life in Denise. After several years together, they made the decision to return to Ohio to find work. Thier union persisted until Denise untimely passing in February 2017.
Having spent most of his life in Cincinnati, Ohio, William relocated to Mississippi to be closer to his chidlren following his wife's passing. He had a deep passion for western movies, indulging in them daily, and became an avid sports enthusiast, with football particularly the Cincinnati Bengals and the Saints ranking among some of his favorites. Willaim worked as general contractor for over 60 years, a career he loved but had to relinquish due to health reasons. He found joy in companionship of his dogs and was always ready to lead a helping hand with household projects whenever needed.
