Obituary

Dr. William (Bill) Bryan Tucker, Sr., (62), of Holmesville, MS, passed away on February 25, 2022.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 1:00-3:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church Summit. Dr. Larry LeBlanc will officiate.

Bill Tucker was born in Hattiesburg, MS to James H. (Jimmy) and Virginia Tucker, Jr. on February 17, 1960.

He graduated from Parklane Academy, and from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences. He then earned his PhD in Dairy Cattle Nutrition from the University of Kentucky. While attending Mississippi State University, he met Linda Thomas, and they later married, and had two children (Amanda and Bryan). After obtaining his PhD, Bill and Linda moved to Stillwater, OK, where he started his professional career teaching Dairy Science at Oklahoma State University. They returned to Mississippi for him to teach at his beloved alma mater, and he taught for 8 years at Mississippi State University, and then returned home (McComb) to work with his passion, the family dairy farm.  For the last 12 years he worked at Southwest Mississippi Community College, most recently as the Vice President of Physical Resources, where he was an integral part of many successful projects. He was heavily involved at FBC Summit, singing in the choir on Sunday, serving as a Sunday School teacher, and as a Deacon. He was an avid hiker, often hiking the Appalachian Trail, and even completing the hike to Phantom Ranch and back at the Grand Canyon in one day, with his son, Bryan. You could always find him tinkering on one of his many projects or proudly fishing with his grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Bennett Tucker.

Bill is survived by his spouse of 38 wonderful years, Linda Thomas Tucker, children Amanda Tucker Stoll (Josh) and William Bryan Tucker, Jr., his grandchildren Jackson, Daniel, Ruth, William and Joyce Stoll, brother Keith Tucker (Christy) and Ken Tucker (Laura), and father Jimmy Tucker (Marilyn).

Memorials may be given to the building fund for First Baptist Church Summit or to the Daniel M. Thomas, DVM Endowed Scholarship at Mississippi State University.
