Winbourne Magruder Drake Sullivan, a long-time resident of Liberty, passed from this life on June 25, 2024, at home after a long illness.

Winbourne was born on August 4, 1937, in Appalachia, Virginia, to Harrison Ingalls Sullivan and Evelyn Nelson Drake.  The family moved to Port Gibson, Mississippi, where Winbourne worked as a soda jerk at the local pharmacy. After graduating from Port Gibson High School, he went on to the University of Mississippi, graduating from The School of Pharmacy in 1960. He left Ole Miss a pharmacist and a life-long    Ole Miss Rebel.

Winbourne married Suzanne Slover in 1961 and moved to McComb for a short time, working for Gillis Drug Store. In 1965, they moved to Liberty, MS, and purchased Liberty Drug Store. For the next 35 years Winbourne spent his time doing what he did best, forming meaningful relationships with people of all walks of life and ensuring they were warmly welcomed when they came to visit Liberty Drug Store.

Winbourne was an active member of the community serving on the board of Trustmark Bank, Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center Foundation, Liberty Chamber of Commerce and Amite School Center. He was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Liberty Chamber of Commerce and was honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution for Outstanding Community Service.

After retirement, Winbourne and Sue spent time at their home in Perdido Key, Florida, enjoying deep sea fishing and making new friends. The last four years have been spent at The Claiborne in Hattiesburg.

In a final act of service, Winbourne decided to donate his body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
