Obituary

Yvonne Evans Williamson, 96, died on October 17, 2022, at Camellia Estates in McComb, MS.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 24, 2022 from 10 AM until 11:30 AM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. A graveside service will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb at 12 Noon. Rev. Danny Speed will officiate. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb will be in charge of arrangements.

Yvonne was born the middle child of Carlos and Lexie Evans on January 14, 1926, in Lawrence County, MS. In 1943, she was graduated from Monticello High School and Mobile Business College. Later she attended Chicago School of Art & Design.

She married Leon C. Williamson in 1951 and they were married for 65 years until his death in 2016. Leon & Yvonne moved to McComb from Jackson, MS, in 1952 and made Pike County their home. They were members of Centenary Methodist Church and Magnolia Methodist Church.
Yvonne was past president of the Four Seasons, Parnassus and Nautilus Clubs. She and Leon were founding members of the Pike County Arts Council. They were members of McComb Dance Club and Supper Club, which was active for almost 50 years.

Yvonne's hobbies included reading, sewing, cooking and entertaining, gardening, flower arranging and traveling with Leon especially on trips with Mississippi Bankers Association and American Bankers Association. One of her greatest talents was painting and she loved painting with her mentors Bess Dawson, Marie Hull and Roger Lawrence.

Yvonne was preceded in death by Husband: Leon C. Williamson, parents; Carlos and Lexie Evans, brother and sister-in-law: C.B. Evans, (Lavelle), sister JoBeth Noland and nephew Michael Evans.

She is survived by her sons Mark (Betty) of New Orleans, LA Kirk (Cindy) of Covington, LA and Mack (Danya) of Collierville, TN; seven grandchildren Matt Williamson (Robin), Ben Williamson (Lauren), Mary McClure Turner (Paul), Katie Williamson, Sarah Fries (Oliver), Andrew Mandelbaum (Marissa) and Hannah Williamson; eight great-grandchildren; cousin Gary J. Evans; niece Debbie Herring (Rick); nephew Patrick Evans and special family friends Dr. Edward Davis (Cindy).

The family expresses special thanks to Ricky Coney, Mamie Hines and Trisainis Wells for their loving care of Yvonne and to the staff of both Camellia Estates and Hospice Compassus for their compassionate and thoughtful services.

In lieu of flowers, Yvonne requested memorial donations be sent to Magnolia Methodist Church 110 E Myrtle Street Magnolia, MS 39652
